I had a hard time with this story. I liked the idea, Rob has been experimented on and somehow turned in to a werewolf. He's been on the run and hiding for years, and justifiably has some trust issues. He meets Jamie the vet when his dog Bella is poisoned and needs help. They beginning to get to know one another, drama happens, and the story ends.My issue was with the motivation of the other characters. There is this whole wierd thing with a woman with a dog who seems intent on getting Jamie, kicks her own dog, dumps him with Jamie and leaves, after threatening to sue him. She just gives up I guess, there is no more mention of her. Then another odd storyline with a couple of animal control officers who seem to have way more power than they should, and one becomes obsessed with proving Jamie is raising wolves. Somehow they get a warrant and search the vets office, one harrasses and attacks Rob and Jamie, threaten them repeatedly, then vanish with no resolution by the end of the book. Jamie has a friend, Leonard, who attempts to help him find Rob, then becomes fixated on saving Jamie from him, with no real explanation why. He's hardly mentioned but suddenly turns in to Robs BFF. His partner Brianna is a trip, varies between friendly and antagonistic with no reason. She threatens him as well, Jamie seems a bit afraid of her, and she's been been having some secret relationship with Leonard for a year. There is an odd evening of "dinner party" with the four people, that just doesn't fit.
Anyway, probably too much detail here.... It's just an odd book. I liked parts of it, didn't understand parts of it, and the ending was abrupt. I've read other Kate Roman books, I liked them, but this one didn't really work somehow.

It was a cute story. I got a bit annoyed with the character Brianna, but I've read worse.
All in all, it's a nice little story with a happy ending. Nothing life changing or extraordinary within it, but who expects that when reading a romance novel? ;-)
